The Challenge

Our client in Hout Bay, Cape Town was determined to expand their use of renewable energy and reduce their reliance on grid electricity. Although their initial solar setup laid the groundwork, it wasn’t enough to keep pace with their growing energy demand. They needed an enhanced solution to deliver greater power output.

The Solution

To achieve this, we upgraded the existing system by adding an additional 5kW of solar panels, increasing the total capacity to 11kW. This enhancement significantly boosted energy production to an average of 44kWh per day. The system integrates a Victron 5kVA inverter, a Fronius 4.6kW inverter paired with 5kW of panels, and a SmartSolar MPPT 250/100 connected to 6kW of panels. This configuration efficiently manages energy generation and storage, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

The Outcome

The upgraded solar system has significantly reduced the client’s dependence on grid electricity, leading to substantial cost savings and a smaller carbon footprint. This enhanced setup not only meets their current energy needs but also ensures long-term energy security and sustainability, aligning perfectly with their goal of maximising renewable energy usage.
