The Challenge

Building a completely off-grid home presents unique challenges, particularly when it comes to ensuring reliable and independent power. For this newly constructed residence in Cape Town, one of the main obstacles was the roof design, which featured five different orientations. This complexity required strategic planning to maximise solar energy production throughout the day while maintaining an efficient and effective energy system.

The Solution

To overcome these challenges, we designed and installed a comprehensive off-grid energy solution that eliminates the need for any grid connection. We carefully planned the panel layout to optimise solar generation from multiple roof angles. The system utilises a Victron 45kVA inverter paired with a 15kW Fronius inverter in an AC-coupled configuration, ensuring efficient energy management and storage.

The Outcome

This off-grid energy solution now powers the home day and night, providing reliable and independent electricity without any grid dependency. By maximising solar production and efficiently managing energy storage, the homeowners enjoy uninterrupted power while benefiting from sustainable and renewable energy sources.
